The
Kookaburra
Actually
there's not just one kookaburra but three different bird species
which are known as kookaburras - and two of these are found in
Australia.
The Call of Kakadu looks at the life of a young blue-winged kookaburra
growing up in Kakadu National Park in northern Australia. This
species is found across the tropical north of Australia and down
the east coast as far as Brisbane. It's also found in the forests
of our northern neighbours, such as Papua New Guinea.
The laughing kookaburra is much better known; you might even say
that it's famous - for a "laugh" that's heard everywhere from
south-eastern Australia to the sets of Hollywood.
